Providing grants to individuals and organisations engaged directly with the saving of lives including working with people in mental health crisis in Devon and Cornwall.


Grants


Butterdon Trust is run by a Board of Trustees who meet regularly to consider grant applications.


Charities, not for profit organisations such as community interest companies, and individuals under certain circumstances are encouraged to apply for up to £1,500 towards a project or individual who is accessing their support.


We will consider applications :


  • From Devon and Cornwall
  • Organisations which engage directly with the saving of lives including working with people in mental health crisis (for example equipment costs).
  • From charities and constituted not for profit organisations(eg: community interest companies),
  • From individuals who are engaged directly with the saving of lives, including working with people in mental health crisis (for example self funded First Responders).


Applications from recipients of grants are not considered again within a two-year period of the award being made.

Exclusions - what we do not fund



We do not support the following so PLEASE DO NOT APPLY if your organisation or application falls into any of the following categories:


  • general appeals or circulars,
  • general revenue costs
  • grants outside of Devon and Cornwall,
  • expeditions, travel and overseas projects,
  • individual travel,
  • large-scale national organisations,
  • promotion of religion,
  • animal welfare,
  • politics,
  • weapons or warfare,
  • we rarely fund research,
  • retrospective funding.

How to Apply

Organisations and Charities

 Please send a letter of application with the following:


  • Name of organisation including website, registered charity number or company number (for not for profit organisations),


  • Main contact details including full name, address, email address and telephone number,


  • Your organisations aims and objectives,


  • A detailed project description and why you are applying to the Butterdon Trust for a grant (no more than 500 words please),


  • A detailed breakdown of the project costs and what you would like us to fund, ie capital costs, or revenue costs directly relating to your project,


  • Briefly (no more than 150 words each) provide two examples of previous projects over the last two years (or as long as you have been running) that have made you proud and why,


  • A copy of your most recent accounts, or full budget,


  • How much are you applying for up to a maximum of £1,500. Please note in exceptional circumstances we will consider funding 100% of the project.


  • Please ensure the application is signed by the Main Contact and one other member of your Board of Trustees/Directors.


Individuals

  • Your contact details including full name and address, telephone number and email address,


  • Details of the organisation(s) you are affiliated to - for example Search and Rescue, St Johns Ambulance (first responders), and so on (no more than 250 words please),


  • Details of your involvement (including length of service) in the saving of lives or advancing health by supporting people with mental health, social, emotional and behavioural needs, in Devon and Cornwall (no more than 250 words please),


  • Detailed description of why you are applying to the Butterdon Trust for grant support (maximum 500 words). If your request is for specific equipment our grant offer might be to provide that equipment to you,


  • References from two individuals who are not related to you in any way. One of those references must be from the organisation you are affiliated to.



  • Proof of your right to live and work in the UK.

Butterdon Trust trustees meet every 8 weeks to consider applications on a rolling basis. Sadly we can not support everyone and you may not be successful. However this does not stop you from applying again after 12 months.


Butterdon Trust is a grant giving trust providing small grants to individuals and organisations engaged directly with the saving of lives including working with people in mental health crisis in Devon and Cornwall.
